NYU Langone Health
ABOUT US
New York University (NYU) Langone Health is one of 27 institutions, across the country, working diligently to recruit families to participate in the HEALthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD) Study. Led by Drs Moriah Thomason, Obianuju Berry, and Lauren Shuffrey, our research team has diligently studied infant and child brain development using multi-modal research methods, such as MRI, EEG, questionnaires, and biospecimen collection, for over 10 years at institutions across the country. Through our commitment to working in this field, we have developed positive and rewarding experiences for our participating families and the communities around us. Families enrolled in the study will complete assessments in a number of our world-class facilities, including our Social Cognitive Affective Neuroscience Lab, NYU’s brand new scanning center at E. 53rd St, and other health facilities across the tri-state area.

At all study visits, we put our families first. This means we have family-friendly
waiting and interview rooms complete with furniture, toys, and books for children. With an emphasis on community-based participatory research, we have established partnerships with many academic and community-based organizations like Health & Hospitals Maternal Medical Home Program, and Odyssey House, to recruit a diverse sample of participants. We offer all families access to our curated donation closet, and referral to resources as needed, because our research would not be possible without them!
